Marcus Synnot Mission

I was always interested in the most beautiful things in life, and came to reproducing them as jewellery, in an effort to find a niche in the market that was not already filled. I realised that the most challenging paintings for artist, was portraiture. The ability to put down on canvas, an exact image of someone’s face is a brilliant talent. I have aspired to a comparable level, relevant to the wonderful things in nature. I had to pursue standout pieces, which were eye catching. The standard had to excel in quality, and have a stunning impact yet maintain elegance, with a class of its own. I decided to make jewellery for special occasions, to be acquired by truly discerning connoisseurs.

The individualistic hand made pieces are achieved with the careful application of brilliant techniques, which give them recognisable, and exclusive ambience.

I’m absorbed with the challenges of resolving difficult construction designs, and work long hours in pursuit of another technically difficult, yet extravagant piece. However this pales into insignificance when compared to my indulgence of my grandchildren. They too love making jewellery in my studio.

I also make time to teach aspiring jewellers, mostly for free, and I don’t have secrets. I enjoy many invitations to teach master classes in Australia, and throughout the world. In September 2011, I’ve been invited back for a second time to be a presenter at “The Enamelist Society” biennial conference at Gatlinburg Tennessee. Where I’ll be teaching them three demential Flowers, during my previous visit I focused on Birds. They have credited me with discovering Torch Fired Plique-a-jour Enamelling [this is see through, like a church window]. In the history of jewellery, Plique-a-jour is unexcelled for its beauty and intrigue. The greatest exponent was a French man Rene Lalique.

Finally I gain great enjoyment from producing exclusive jewellery commissioned by discerning clientele.

I hope that you enjoy viewing these individualistic, hand made pieces as much as I have a passion for creating them.
